Purpose
Create an application that unifies event management, personnel management and analytics.
The Problem
A client that manages multiple global events with multiple staff located all over the world needed a way to better manage their events and personnel.
Understanding The Problem
Client currently tracks event schedule by means of a VERY large excel spreadsheet.
Client schedules many events around the world with many staff. The client needs a way to manage the life cycle of events and staff to optimize processes.
Currently there is no way for the client to determine efficacy of their event program.

Get the Details
This project included a long list of requirements to digest. The key to digging into this document was dissecting the data points associated with each and ferreting out the motivation for the request.
After consuming all of the requirements, I interviewed a base group of users to better understand the why for each requirement.
Part of my digestion of documentation is to create visual breakdowns of my thought process. This produced graphics that identify motivation, timeframe breakdown and a proposed sitemap.

Do the Research
When working on a project, research never stops. Secondary research begins as soon as the project begins, looking at competitors, core user psychology, and industry knowledge.
Throughout the development lifecycle, I conduct user interviews, usability testing and design reviews with a user base. This process allows for continuous improvement not only for future design solutions, but for previously designed solutions that can be further optimized.
Get Designing
I like to stay at least two sprints ahead of my development team. At the beginning of the project, I work fast and hard to define the basis for the application, figuring out the app shell, navigation methods and general styling. This sets the basis for the design system. As the project progresses, the design system evolves.
